One of Marcus's father's servants, he's a sensible and just guy. However, he is well aware of his oppression and dare not speak out on behalf of justice. He is the only one who can sympathize with Abby's ploy- being at the bottom rung of society himself. Sympathy for Abby and anger towards Marcus brew with in a man who cannot jeopardize the lives of his wife and three children.
